Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wants Turkey to contribute to peace with Azerbaijan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a press briefing at the Turkish House in New York.

“Judging by Pashinyan’s approach, he does not have any negative attitude. We are required to ensure a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan so that they can live as neighbors in peace. We are already moving in this direction,” he said.

“This is what we are striving for,” he noted, adding that Ankara hopes to resolve the problems between Yerevan and Baku “as both sides are in favor of peace.”

“Azerbaijan is currently expecting this and is making efforts. We believe that the peaceful and calm environment that is being created will be the best solution for all,” he added.

According to Erdogan, peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan will open new opportunities for both countries. He also added that “the outcome of the peace process will have a positive impact on the Armenian-Turkish normalization”.
