It is currently safe in areas of Lebanon where Armenians live — Hakob Bagratuni
The attack on the Hezbollah leader had a bad impact not only on Lebanon but also on the entire region, Hakob Bagratuni, representative of the ARF Lebanon Central Committee and Lebanese MP, told Alpha News.
“Unfortunately, Lebanon is once again in a terrible crisis situation. Israel has started ground invasions of southern Lebanon. Naturally, the attack on the Hezbollah leader had a bad impact not only on Lebanon but also on the entire region. Attacks are expected to intensify every second. The international community is doing nothing but diplomatic statements to establish a truce between Israel and Lebanon.
The areas where Armenians live are safe at the moment. There are no casualties or property damage; however, in southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the number of refugees reaches about 1 million. Some of them have moved to safer areas, including Armenian settlements. In the regions where there are no attacks, the shops are still functioning, but everyone has fears,” Bagratuni said.
He stressed that, apart from Lebanese and Iranian airlines, no other airlines come to Lebanon.
“They Lebanese have seen similar wars before and know what great difficulties there are. The airport continues to operate, but only Lebanese and Iranian airlines are open; no other airlines come to Lebanon. But we understand there are no security guarantees. Initially, the southern part of Lebanon was targeted, which directly borders occupied Palestine, in this case Israel. However, the southern suburbs of Beirut, which is one of the important strongholds of Hezbollah, as well as the regions of Beqaa and Baalbek, began to be targeted. One or two centers of the Hamas movement and the Islamic movement were also targeted,” Bagratuni concluded.
