Natalie Portman and Alexis Ohanian have sold Angel City FC to Disney CEO

 
Women’s football club Angel City, owned by a group including Hollywood actress Natalie Portman and tennis player Serena Williams’ husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, has announced the completion of the takeover.

The total value was set at $250 million, with the controlling stake passing into the hands of the equally famous owners, Walt Disney president Bob Iger and his wife Willow Bay. 

The story of the most famous and now the world’s most expensive women’s football club began in 2019, when venture capitalist Kara Nortman and actress Natalie Portman decided to create their own women’s football team. They brought in another female entrepreneur, Julie Uhrman, who in turn brought in Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. It was Ohanian who became the largest shareholder in the new FC, which was named Angel City. After the deal was finalized, Portman, Uhrman and Ohanian remained on the board of directors.
