Armenia must hold a referendum to sign peace agreement – Ziyafat Asgarov

Armenia must hold a referendum to sign the peace agreement, Deputy President of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov said on Tuesday, Azerbaijani media reported.

He noted that it is the Armenian Constitution that “prevents signing the peace agreement with Azerbaijan” and to finalize the agreement, “it is necessary to exclude territorial claims to Azerbaijan from the Armenian Constitution.”

“Armenia must hold a referendum to sign this agreement. We are concluding an agreement not with Pashinyan but with the Armenian state. The political opinion of the Armenian people should be behind this agreement,” he said.
