Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Dmitry Suslov commented on the upcoming election in the United States and their impact on the US domestic and foreign policy.

“Opinion polls show that the candidates are neck and neck, the difference between them fluctuates, we’re not even talking about percentages, but about fractions of a percent. This is typical not only for the country as a whole, but also for key swing states, the results of which will determine the outcome of the American elections. In addition, primary voting is already underway in America, in which the majority is voting for Kamala Harris. This is a traditional picture for the United States, because Democratic voters usually use primary voting to a much greater extent than Republican voters. According to the current picture, Harris is winning the primary voting in swing states with a much smaller margin than Joe Biden won in 2020, but with a slightly larger margin than Hillary Clinton had in 2016,” Suslov said.

According to the expert, the possibility of the election results being predicted is now much lower than in 2020.

“There are no favorites among the candidates today. The favorite is the instability that will come to the United States after the election, and the favorite is the polarization of the American system, the split in their society, which will certainly remain after the election. Given the approximately equal chances of the candidates, it is more likely that the election will be protested, the losing side will try to cancel them, regardless of who this losing side will be. And after the election, the United States will plunge into a fairly long period of acute instability,” he emphasized.
