Russia and Iran are discussing the construction of a railway from the Iranian city of Parsabad on the border with Azerbaijan to Bandar Abbas, the largest Iranian port on the Persian Gulf, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said at a meeting with President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.
“In addition to the Rasht-Astara railway line, Russians want to invest in the construction of a railway from Parsabad to Bandar Abbas,” he said.
Pezeshkian noted that “the expansion of railways from north to south benefits the people and economy of the country and can meet the economic needs of Russia and Iran” and instructed to speed up the construction of the Rasht-Astara route.
