US Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), who participated in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) on UN Climate Action, was greeted by Azerbaijani government-sponsored protests at both COP29 and the hotel where he stayed, the statement on Pallone’s official website reads.

“Despite Aliyev organizing violent protests to prevent me, Senator Markey and others from participating in COP29, I’ll continue to fight for Armenia’s territorial sovereignty, the release of Armenian prisoners and a peace deal that brings calm to the region,” Pallone said in a post on X.

Pallone avoided physical harm only through the efforts of the State Department. He was excluded by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev from a bipartisan meeting between Aliyev and members of Congress.
