The European Union, which is carrying out a monitoring mission on the Armenian side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, has not yet clarified whether more than 200 civilian observers will continue to stay there or not after the end of the mission.
EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos told the RFE/RL’s Armenian service that there is no final decision yet. He did not clarify whether official Yerevan applied for an extension of the mission period either.
The decision on the extension of the mission has not been finalized yet, but we are discussing it with the Armenian authorities, he said.
