Russia’s Krasnodar to host memorial event of national hero of Armenia and Artsakh Monte Melkonyan

The Armenian Cultural and Leisure Center of the Russian city of Krasnodar will host an event in memory of Monte Melkonyan, participant of the First Artsakh War, national hero of Armenia and Artsakh, to mark his 67th anniversary on November 24.

Monte Melkonyan was born on November 25, 1957, in the USA. He is considered one of the brightest, most talented, and most experienced Armenian commanders of the Artsakh war. Monte died on June 12, 1993, during the battle in the village of Marzili. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Armenia, as well as the title of Hero of Artsakh. He is buried in the Yerablur military pantheon.
A military unit of the Armenian Armed Forces, a university and a school in Yerevan bear the name of Monte Melkonyan.
