We are all under influence of destructive external forces – Andrey Klimov
Speaking with Alpha News, Deputy Chair of Russia’s Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Andrey Klimov commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement that it is important to prevent destabilization within the CIS and in neighboring regions.
“At one time, the American private research institute, RAND Corporation, which in fact very often works for the US government, published a report on how to overextend Russia to make it fall apart. And they did not come up with anything better than to use pressure tactics. This suggests tensions that arise around us that actually allow them not only to contain our state but also to destroy it. And at the expense of what are these tensions created?
In modern conditions, our enemies believe that the main source of tension is the countries with which we border, and these are primarily the CIS countries. Therefore, a lot of the destructive things that our enemies are trying to do are aimed precisely at creating problems for Russia,” Klimov said.
According to the senator, it is important that all those who live and work in the CIS countries understand that destabilization in any of the Commonwealth countries is ultimately harmful to everyone.
“In this regard, of course, it is important for us that all those who live and work in the CIS countries understand that we are all in the same boat, and that attempts to destabilize any of us are ultimately harmful to all of us and each of us. If they understand this, no one will be able to overpower us.
But if there are weak links, tensions will not only be felt by those who have them but will also be transmitted further. It is about countering a strategy directed against all of us, and primarily, of course, against Russia, which the United States considers its strategic adversary. We all need to stick together and coordinate our actions, understanding that we are all under the influence of destructive external forces,” Klimov concluded.
