The Armenian Community of Georgia NGO released a statement, calling on its supporters not to give in to provocations serving narrow political interests.
“It is not news to anyone that the community is not consolidated around one idea in political processes. Considering that the Armenian Community of Georgia NGO, which carries national values, is one of the important organizations of the community and has always been ready to cooperate with any forces supported by the majority of Georgian citizens, it is also ready to work with all opposition forces for the benefit of Georgia and the community. It should be noted that as an organization committed to the principles of democracy, we have people with different opinions on the political process taking place in Georgia, and among our numerous supporters, there are people who peacefully participate in the demonstrations, presenting their personal, ordinary Georgian citizen’s opinion.
We consider it necessary to address the initiative spreading on social media, which envisages a march of the country’s two largest national minorities in Tbilisi, which serves the narrow political interests of the organizers and is trying to present it as a consolidation of minorities around these political processes, which is very dangerous.
The Armenian Community of Georgia NGO officially announces that it has nothing to do with this initiative. On the contrary, it criticizes the organizers’ attempt to divide national minorities in the political processes in our country and calls on its numerous supporters not to get involved in these dangerous games,” the statement reads.
