Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Turkey’s ambassador Hicabi Kırlangıç after Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statements. He was received by Iran’s Assistant Foreign Minister Mahmoud Heydari.

Commenting on Fidan’s latest remarks, he noted that Turkey “needs to avoid wrongful comments that could lead to differences or tensions in bilateral relations, given the situation in the region and the common interests of the two neighbors.”

Earlier in an interview with Al Jazeera, Fidan spoke harshly about Iran’s policy, emphasizing that Tehran has ultimately failed in its strategy in the Middle East. The foreign minister said that the price of Iran’s foreign policy does not justify the results, alluding mainly to Iran’s failures in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria.
