Moscow urges Yerevan and Baku to exercise restraint and take steps to de-escalate tension at the border between the countries, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

The diplomat emphasized that Russia is closely monitoring the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border region.

“We reiterate our call to Baku and Yerevan to show restraint, take steps to de-escalate tension, and avoid any actions that could exacerbate the situation,” Zakharova said.

She underscored that all disputes must be resolved exclusively through peaceful, political, and diplomatic means. “For our part, we are ready to assist our partners in overcoming remaining disagreements, facilitating the signing of a peace agreement, unblocking transportation and economic communications, delimiting the border, and addressing humanitarian issues in line with the trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia,” Zakharova said.
