Preparatory work underway in Kapan to open Russian consulate – Lavrov

Preparatory work is underway in Armenia’s Kapan to open a Russian consulate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan.

“Preparatory work is underway to open a Russian consulate in Armenia’s Kapan. We are also interested in the development of friendly ties between cities, municipalities, and regions in both Russia and Armenia. Another interregional forum is being prepared. It will further consolidate the material foundation, which is the basis of our allied relations and strategic partnership. As a result of these efforts, we have recorded unprecedented trade turnover, which reached impressive results last year. The trade turnover volume amounted to $1.6 billion, which is more than one-third of Armenia’s total foreign trade turnover. Russia remains Armenia’s leading trade and investment partner,” Lavrov said.
