The owners of the renowned BookHampton bookstore in East Hampton wanted to close it by the end of 2024. Concerned about losing an important part of New York City’s cultural heritage, neighborhood residents raised the alarm.
Larry Gagosian, a prominent art dealer and gallerist of Armenian descent who lives in the neighborhood and is a regular BookHampton customer, decided to purchase the store, wanting to keep it open while expanding its selection of art and design books.
