Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova responded to a question regarding the opening of the Russian Consulate General in Syunik during a press briefing, noting that the Russian side does not need to be persuaded of the importance of establishing the diplomatic mission.
“This topic was discussed in detail during the negotiations. We do not need to be persuaded of the necessity of launching the work of this Russian diplomatic mission as soon as possible. So far, there is no Russian Consulate General in the town of Kapan. Why? You should ask the Armenian side for official explanations,” she noted.
Speaking about Armenia’s participation in the CSTO, Zakharova noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had already addressed this matter.
“We continue to operate on the basis that the republic remains a full-fledged member of the organization, with all rights and obligations. Nothing has changed since the visit to Yerevan,” she said.
