Attempts being made to rewrite Armenia’s history, identity and Armenian-Russian relations — Russian Ambassador

While summarizing the results of the Armenology competition in Yerevan, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin said that now, more than ever, an objective scientific analysis of what Armenia and Armenian identity is about is needed.

“This is also important in the context of the characteristics that unite our countries. The identities of Armenia and Russia are so closely intertwined that it is sometimes difficult to separate them. Hence, the growing popularity of Armenian studies in Russia and the establishment of a chair for teaching Armenian at the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University are important. These are processes that should be supported in every possible way,” Sergey Kopyrkin noted.
