Europe must exert political pressure on Aliyev – Jonathan Spangenberg

Speaking with Alpha News, Jonathan Spangenberg, the president of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, stated that the issue of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan must be raised at all levels.

“This issue should be continuously raised in the political arena. Germany recently held elections to the Bundestag, and the government and the new parliament and cabinet need to raise this issue again, building on the progress already made,” he noted.

According to Spangenberg, this issue must ultimately be resolved, and Europe must exert political pressure on Aliyev.

Commenting on Germany’s position on the peace agenda, he added, “Europe’s position is very clear, and the German government also wants there to be peace.”
