Armenian community of Russia releases statement in support of Samvel Karapetyan

The Armenians of Russia have issued a statement in support of businessman, philanthropist and head of the Tashir Group of Companies, Samvel Karapetyan.

“United by the Armenian Apostolic Church, we, Russian Armenians—children of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese—are outraged by yet another act of vindictiveness from the Armenian authorities. Since when has allegiance to national sacred sites and support for the Armenian Apostolic Church been considered a crime? This time, such an accusation has affected the esteemed national figure, Samvel Karapetyan, who, as a true believer, expressed his filial devotion to the Armenian Church and Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II.

It is painful and offensive that the authorities have launched a campaign against Karapetyan—a man who spared nothing in his efforts to preserve the nation and the country, who earned the reputation of a national benefactor with his good, patriotic deeds, a man who is nothing less than a national treasure.
We strongly demand that the Armenian authorities put an end to arbitrary actions and fulfill their direct responsibilities in maintaining legality and national unity. In the current complex realities, the authorities must first and foremost take all effective security measures to prevent geopolitical threats in the region, which could prove fatal for the Armenian state and our people,” the statement reads.
