Armenian community of Yaroslavl voices support for Armenian Apostolic Church

The leadership of church and public organizations in the Yaroslavl region of Russia has expressed full support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. The statement emphasizes that the actions of the Armenian authorities against the Church, the Catholicos of All Armenians and the clergy have sparked serious indignation within the Diaspora.

“The unacceptable campaign launched by the authorities of the Republic of Armenia against our Church could deliver a serious blow to national unity both within the country and throughout the Diaspora,” the statement reads.

At the same time, the community leaders emphasize that they do not pursue political goals, but believe that the public attacks on the Church and its historical mission have overstepped acceptable limits.

“The Armenian Apostolic Church has been the pillar of spirituality, national identity and statehood of the Armenian people for two millennia,” the Armenian community of Yaroslavl notes.
