He can surrender everything – Andranik Mihranyan on upcoming meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev in Abu Dhabi
Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Andranik Mihranyan commented on what can be expected from the upcoming meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
According to the expert, Pashinyan may concede everything at this meeting, while Aliyev and Erdogan’s main demand is the opening of the so-called “Zangezur corridor.”
“Anything can be expected of him—he can surrender everything, because he has long lost his own subjectivity and, of course, destroyed the sovereignty of the Armenian state, so he surrenders everything. For several centuries, all analysts believed that the obstacle to the emergence of the ‘Great Turan’, which could threaten both Iran, and Russia, and even China, was the Armenian wedge, but no one could even assume that the Armenian wedge would be removed by the hands of Armenian leaders. Of course, the main demand of both Aliyev and Erdogan is the opening of the ‘Zangezur corridor’, as they call it. And Pashinyan says, ‘What does it matter? They will go this way and that, and we will go this way and that.’ Can you imagine once those movements begin, Armenia’s 2–3 million citizens will be utterly trampled, and our fragile independence and sovereignty could vanish within months or years?”
“If Iran weakens now, and if Russia is still busy with its own affairs for a long time, then who will help this piece of land, a small number of people? Who will think about it? 150,000 Armenians were expelled from Karabakh, this nation actually experienced another genocide, and no one was interested in it, no one raised this issue either from the European parliamentary podiums or the American ones. Why? And what can we do if the leaders of Armenia have adopted such a position that they do not need independent Armenia?” Mihranyan said.
