Armenia will not receive support from EU at critical moments — Vladimir Sergienko
Speaking with Alpha News, German political scientist Vladimir Sergienko commented on Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Brussels.
“Of course, this support is symbolic, in terms of Pashinyan’s PR promotion. He can showcase success, demonstrate commitment to Europe, and present Europe’s commitment to Armenia—if viewed purely from a promotional lens, but if you look deeper, there are so many things that are hidden from the public. They need to be talked about so that the Armenian people understand the path they are being led down, and it’s not about some unconditional politicization, but about the fact that Pashinyan is walking on the edge of the abyss related to European security. European security today is a made-up myth, with militarization of elites, militarization of production, militarization of thinking, and this is all based on hostility towards Russia. Directing his activity and the country’s activity towards integration into the European Union, Pashinyan will have to join the militarized processes connected and directed against Russia,” Sergienko said.
According to the expert, Pashinyan is laying a time mine that will turn Armenia into a structure hostile to Russia.
“Global Gateway is a major deception. There are no new projects there, it is a rebranding of already existing investments. EU parliamentarians have stated this more than once. There is no new policy, no new money. And most importantly, it is an allocation of funds for the media. That is, it will be a propaganda apparatus aligned with the European narrative. This means that in the near future the Armenian media will soon be reshaped to adopt a hostile stance toward Russia. I have never seen that the money that Europe allocates to the media goes to strengthening the sovereignty of national thinking. In this respect, taking money from the European Union means signing up for the creation of European-controlled media, not independent media. By taking this step, Pashinyan will definitely use the promotion of his ideology, his philosophy and his person personally. Pashinyan is laying a time mine, which should then turn Armenia into a structure hostile to Russia and give the territory for a military base,” Sergienko said.
