Government’s steps against Armenian Church and Karapetyan driven by electoral motives – Sevag Belian

Amid geopolitical events, when there is a direct threat to the security and territorial integrity of Armenia, the authorities’ actions are driven by electoral motives, Sevag Belian, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC), told Alpha News.

He emphasized the need for vigilance and warned against falling for the authorities’ “games.”

By taking steps against respected philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is trying to eliminate anyone who could become an obstacle to his re-election, Belian said.

“All this shows that Pashinyan is in a panic and sees a serious threat to his re-election. He is doing everything he can to neutralize all influential figures,” he said.
