Azerbaijan will strike Russia when opportunity arises – Kirill Kabanov

Speaking with Alpha News, Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Committee of Russia Kirill Kabanov commented on how Moscow should respond to Azerbaijan’s anti-Russian actions.

“Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan has not pursued integration with Russia. It only maintained ties to secure economic advantages and profit from its relationship with Russia. All conditions for this were established even before the collapse of the great country—they were established by Heydar Aliyev when he created the so-called Azerbaijani elite in business. Azerbaijan did not follow the path of integration, strengthening relations with Russia, it followed the path of strengthening relations with Turkey, the UK, and the US, but the main partners have always been, and remain, the UK and Turkey,” Kabanov said.

According to the expert, Azerbaijan is a state that could strike Russia when the opportunity arises.

“Baku’s belligerent statements are ridiculous, but they exist and they indicate that they are preparing for this. What must be done? First, we need to stop Azerbaijani oligarchs from pumping money out of Russia. This means, first of all, stopping the diaspora business, because they are one of the most influential ethnic diasporas in Russia. We must strengthen our positions in the Caucasus and prepare for the fact that Azerbaijan will now put pressure on Dagestan and there will be other various provocations. Our military task is to weaken the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Most importantly, we must accept the truth that Azerbaijan is not our friend today,” Kabanov concluded.
