Authorities deliberately arranged for Samvel Karapetyan to remain under arrest until elections – The People Speak

As part of The People Speak project, Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and Armenian-populated communities in the United States and Russia, aiming to gather public opinion on the most pressing issues of recent years.
Commenting on the arrest of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, one survey participant stated:
“They deliberately arranged this so that Samvel Karapetyan would remain under arrest until the elections. He voiced what the majority of the Armenian people believe.”
Citizens express hope that justice would prevail and the businessman would be released.
“I hope that Samvel Karapetyan will be released and, as he himself says, will fight ‘in his own way’ against the authorities’ attacks on the Church,” said one respondent.
Another citizen noted that under the current government, the Armenian people will not have good days.
“The role and importance of the Armenian Apostolic Church are undeniable. To speak out against the Church means to speak out against the Armenian people,” said another respondent.
