Russia is doing everything possible for peaceful resolution – Yury Shvytkin
Speaking with Alpha News, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Defense Committee Yury Shvytkin commented on the talks held in Washington between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and European leaders.
According to the MP, the meeting once again confirms the US President’s intentions to move towards establishing long-term peace, but European countries and Zelensky are obstructing this effort.
“Russia consistently seeks an end to military actions and the elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis. Yesterday’s meeting once again confirms the intentions of US President Trump to move towards establishing long-term peace, but, unfortunately, the countries of Europe and Zelensky are to some extent hindering the implementation of this issue. I would like to emphasize that responsibility for a peaceful resolution lies with the countries of Europe and Ukraine’s President. We have declared our readiness to expand and raise the status of the delegation. In the future, we will also act based on the tasks of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for a special military operation. We insist that territorial arrangements be aligned with established geographic boundaries. Russia is doing everything possible for a peaceful resolution, but, unfortunately, there is no proper understanding from Europe and Ukraine’s President on this matter,” Shvytkin said.
