Sevilia Sargsyan, the mother of Arayik Aghavelyan—who was killed in the war in Artsakh—is calling on the Armenian government to take steps to transfer her son’s remains from occupied Artsakh to Armenia.
“My 33-year-old son had been serving in the Defense Army since he was 17. He was killed on September 20. We buried him on the 23rd in the town of Martuni, and after that, we were forcibly displaced from Artsakh. For two years now, we have been demanding for an exhumation to be organized so that our loved ones’ remains can be brought to Armenia—so we can at least lay flowers on their graves, have a place to cry. That’s all we’re asking for,” Sevilia Sargsyan told Alpha News.
