It is ungrateful to keep a philanthropist like Samvel Karapetyan under arrest – The People Speak

As part of “The People Speak” project, Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and in Armenian-populated communities across the United States and Russia to gather public opinion on the most pressing issues of recent years.
Speaking about the recent tensions between the state and the Church, survey participants note that the state should not interfere in the Church’s internal affairs.
“The authorities’ attacks on the Church tend to undermine national foundations,” said one respondent, adding that by defaming clergymen, the government fosters public resentment toward itself.
Another participant noted that any negative events happening around the Armenian Apostolic Church are unacceptable and wrong.
Commenting on the situation involving businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, respondents highlighted his significant contributions to defending both the Church and the Armenian people.
“It is ungrateful to keep such a philanthropist under arrest over a mere phrase,” said one citizen.
