Serdar Kılıç, Turkey’s special representative for the normalization of relations with Armenia, will visit Armenia through the Alican border crossing in Iğdır, accompanied by a delegation. The visit was reported by Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu.
Speaking to journalists, Kılıç noted that certain groundwork had already been carried out in cooperation with Armenia’s special representative.
“We will review this work, confirm what has already been accomplished, and discuss future steps to support the economic life of both countries—especially in this region,” he said.
The envoy also addressed the importance of the “Zangezur corridor.”
“This route is extremely important. It is not only vital for connecting Armenia and Turkey, but also for establishing links with Central Asia and the Turkic republics. The Zangezur corridor is a key route,” he emphasized.
Additionally, he expressed his strong desire to see the corridor opened in the short term to help boost the economies of both countries, particularly the regions of Iğdır and Kars.
According to Kılıç, the Armenian side has also responded positively to these proposals. He referred to a statement from Armenian officials expressing readiness to open the border.
“Of course, they also support initiatives that benefit everyone. Before implementing certain projects, some technical work is required, but in terms of intent, we have no issues,” he added.
