The murder in the Parakar community is a consequence of lawlessness and permissiveness in the country, political analyst Vigen Hakobyan told Alpha News, commenting on the murder of the head of the community, Volodya Grigoryan, and his friend, police officer Karen Abrahamyan.

Hakobyan noted that Nikol Pashinyan’s Facebook post about the murder suggests a vendetta as a possible motive. According to the political analyst, Pashinyan either knows something from the preliminary investigation or is directing the investigative body to rule out a political motive behind the killings.

Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that on September 23 at 11:52 PM, a report was received by the police about gunshots heard on Yerevan Highway in the village of Merdzavan, Armavir Province. Preliminary information indicates two people were killed and one injured. One of the deceased was Volodya Grigoryan, head of the Parakar community. Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan told reporters that the second victim was police officer Karen Abrahamyan, a friend of Grigoryan, who was off duty at the time. The injured man, Artsrun Galstyan, has undergone surgery and is in stable condition. Police are taking measures to uncover all the circumstances of the incident.
