It would be a victory for us if other communication routes were opened; at least through Nakhichevan, we could gain access to the Persian Gulf, Sergey Melkonyan, PhD in history, analyst, and research fellow at APRI Armenia, said in an interview with Alpha News.

He noted that the discussion now is exclusively about the so-called “Zangezur corridor,” which the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey discuss almost every month.

“Furthermore, it’s worth recalling Nikol Pashinyan’s historic visit to Turkey, when there were expectations for the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border. But delegations of this level visit another country only when serious agreements exist,” Melkonyan noted, emphasizing that these agreements specifically pertain to the “Zangezur corridor.”

“The final piece of this puzzle is that the US is already openly stating that Turkey is directly involved in this process,” he added.
