A tense situation has developed outside the building of Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee, where Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan was brought in. According to a Sputnik Armenia correspondent, an ambulance arrived at the scene, though it remains unclear who required medical attention.
Earlier reports stated that Ghukasyan and seven other city hall employees were detained as part of a criminal case initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee. They are accused of giving and receiving bribes in especially large amounts.
Additionally, large-scale searches were conducted at Gyumri City Hall, and equipment seized from the municipality—including computers and other data storage devices—was transferred to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
