Following Georgia, Azerbaijan has announced its refusal to participate in the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled to take place in Yerevan from October 28 to 30.

On Monday, the delegation of Azerbaijan’s National Assembly confirmed its decision to withdraw from the session. The head of the delegation, Tahir Mirkişili, told the media that the documents and statements issued by the European Parliament—which constitute half of the Assembly’s activities—contradict Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to Mirkişili, the decision to abstain is not related to the session being held in Armenia. “Peace has already been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and practical steps are being taken to normalize relations,” he said.
