The NGO Sahman was founded in 2011 and is engaged in financing businesses in Armenia’s border villages. In an interview with Alpha News, program director Sose Muradyan outlined the organization’s main objectives.

“One of our goals is to create jobs in border villages so that villagers can remain on their land and prevent depopulation. Another goal is to change people’s mindset, to show that any idea can be initiated right in their own village,” Sose Muradyan said.

Speaking about the selection of villages, the program director noted that the organization mainly chooses more vulnerable ones.
“Unfortunately, as a result of border demarcation, in the village of Kirants in Tavush region, we lost two businesses because they were located in the area that was occupied by Azerbaijan,” she said.

According to Muradyan, they do not have the capacity to influence the authorities, but they try to help villagers and ease their burdens as much as possible. “Sadly, we have no influence over political decisions,” she added.
