Andre Mkrtchyan Spight to continue his career in Venezuela

The captain of the Armenian men’s national basketball team, Andre Mkrtchyan Spight, will continue his career in Venezuela. The 30-year-old guard has signed a contract with the Spartans Distrito Capital, a club based in Caracas.

Mkrtchyan’s previous team was Uruguay’s Biguá de Villa Biarritz. His team finished 7th in the Uruguayan league.

Founded in 2019, Spartans Distrito Capital won the Venezuelan championship in 2020. The addition of Andre Mkrtchyan Spight is expected to strengthen the team’s perimeter play and provide valuable international experience.

Throughout his accomplished career, the Armenian basketball player has competed in the USA, Poland, Finland, France, Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay, and will now showcase his skills in the Venezuelan league.

On November 27, Andre Mkrtchyan Spight will also represent the Armenian national team in the first round of the EuroBasket 2029 qualifiers against Bulgaria.
