Farewell to Nikita Simonyan to take place on November 27 at Lukoil Arena

The farewell ceremony for the legendary Spartak football player Nikita Simonyan will be held on November 27 at the Lukoil Arena stadium in Moscow, where FC Spartak plays its home matches.

Nikita Simonyan passed away on November 23 at the age of 99.

The funeral service will take place in the morning of November 27 at the Armenian church on Trifonovskaya Street, and the legendary footballer will be buried at Moscow’s Vagankovo Cemetery.

Simonyan devoted his entire life to one club: “I was, I am, and I will die in Spartak’s uniform.”
Together with Spartak, he became the champion of the USSR four times as a player and twice as the team’s head coach. In addition, Simonyan was a gold medalist at the 1956 Summer Olympic Games as part of the USSR national team. To this day, he remains Spartak’s all-time leading scorer, with 160 goals for the Moscow club.
