All foreign films in Armenia to be screened with subtitles

According to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Cinematography,” all foreign-language films will be screened in cinemas across the country with Armenian subtitles. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports stated that this measure is expected to broaden audience reach and improve accessibility.

The regulation applies not only to theatrical screenings but also to films distributed via television, online platforms, and on physical media.

The initiative is being implemented jointly by the Ministry and the Cinema Foundation of Armenia in cooperation with foreign distribution companies.

It is reported that the next stage will involve the introduction of Armenian dubbing of foreign-language films.
