Our struggle is not against state, but against government – Sarkis Zelveyan on divisions within Mother See

“If divisions and betrayals occurred within political parties or various organizations, they would be somewhat understandable. But when we have division within the Mother See, unfortunately, we find ourselves in a very bad situation,” Sarkis Zelveyan, member of the Supreme Council of the Knights Templar in the US, said in an interview with Alpha News.
According to him, major geopolitical actors and forces are behind these developments.
“Just as in previous centuries, today the unifying force for Armenians remains the Church. In Armenian reality, if there is one institution whose voice is heard and accepted by all Armenians—whether in Armenia, the Diaspora, or Artsakh—it is our Church. This is not the first time it has been targeted, but let it be known to the dividers: our Church is a God-created Church, and what is founded by God cannot be destroyed by anyone,” he noted.
Zelveyan emphasized that every self-respecting Armenian is obliged to prevent, in every possible way, the campaign against our faith and our holiest sanctuary.
“Our struggle is not against the state, but against the government, which unfortunately has no connection to Armenian statehood. I am one of the front-liners of this struggle, and I will fight against a government that is neither pro-state nor pro-Armenian, but foreign-born. The root of all evils is ignorance. Until we educate ourselves, understand our true role in the world, who we are as Armenians, what we represent, what we have given to the world, and what the world owes us, we will never be able to move forward,” he concluded.
