A total of 26,233 forcibly displaced residents of Artsakh have already obtained citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs David Khachatryan announced during a parliamentary session.
Khachatryan noted that holding Armenian citizenship is a mandatory requirement for receiving government support under the “Affordable Housing” program. He also addressed rumors claiming that Armenia allegedly denies many applicants citizenship.
“As of today, 26,233 of our compatriots displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have obtained Armenian citizenship. Of these, 16,919 are adults. The number of applicants whose citizenship requests are still under review stands at 6,696,” Khachatryan added.
