‘With confident steps, we are moving toward 2026, which must become the beginning of the Armenian people’s rebirth’ – Samvel Karapetyan

Samvel Karapetyan’s lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, read his address from prison at the year-end meeting of the “Our Way” movement.

“Dear participants of the year-end meeting of the ‘Our Way’ volunteer movement, dear colleagues and supporters, I greet you. Together with you, I am proud of the enormous and important work accomplished in such a short period—only four months. There is no longer a settlement, city, or village in our country where people do not know about our movement and its noble goals. There is no person unaware of our mission. Today it is already difficult to find any political analyst who discusses Armenia’s near future, social and political processes, without mentioning the ‘Our Way’ movement, our team, and our supporters’ decisive influence.

Our activity is also at the center of attention of foreign press and analytical centers studying and covering Armenia. It is now hard to find a clear-thinking voter in our country who ties certain hopes to the good future of the Republic of Armenia and does not mention our movement in that context. This is a very impressive result, authored by you and our supporters. I sincerely thank you.

Dear colleagues, we are shaping a fundamentally new political force and new leadership, and the reason is simple. We have our vision of a strong Armenia, and only we can make it a reality. We are forming a strong team, composed of professionals, devoted Armenians, those who honestly and selflessly unite around just and great goals. I have said many times that our most important mission is not to disappoint people. People connect hopes with our activity—hopes tied to their families’ well-being, health, the country’s security, and national dignity. We have no right to disappoint them. Yes, dear people, today we say to everyone: Armenia is not weak, it simply has weak leadership.

Recently I declared that by bowing to friendship with Azerbaijan and Turkey, we will not achieve real peace. By plotting against Russia, we will not feel safe in the region. By ignoring the vital interests of Iran and Georgia, we will not have friends in difficult times. Our people have long forgotten how to solve their own issues through good relations. Therefore, that is exactly what we will do. We will renounce nothing, but we will resolve issues peacefully and professionally to our benefit. Justice is every Armenian’s dream, and we will establish that justice in our country, proving that it is absolutely possible. We will leave behind the governmental, judicial, banking, corrupt, and law-enforcement lawlessness. This is what our compatriots want. I say this unequivocally, as someone who knows our people well.

Dear compatriots, dear colleagues, our struggle is difficult and filled with many hardships. But how can persecution stop us, if our goal is the prosperous and secure future of the Republic of Armenia, of our elders, our people, our children, and our grandchildren? Therefore, without any pause, with confident steps we are moving toward 2026, which must become the beginning of the Armenian people’s rebirth. We will win in our way and build a strong Armenia,” Karapetyan said in his message.
