Russia, in addition to grain supplies to Armenia through Azerbaijan, is discussing the possibility of delivering fertilizers. Furthermore, plans are being developed to ensure return shipments, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said on the Russia 24 TV channel.
“An important event took place. We consider this truly significant. In early November, the first train carrying Russian grain passed through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia. That is, for the first time in more than 30 years, and for the first time since the independent existence of Armenia and Azerbaijan, a train with grain crossed this route. Later, Kazakh grain also went through. We are also discussing the possibility of using this line for other types of cargo, such as fertilizers,” Overchuk said.
He also noted that a train carrying petroleum products recently arrived in Armenia from Azerbaijan. In addition, Moscow and Yerevan are discussing the possibility of sending cargo in the opposite direction.
“We are also talking about ensuring return shipments from Armenia to Russia through the territory of Azerbaijan. These are all shifts that, until very recently, seemed unlikely,” Overchuk emphasized.
