Speaking with Alpha News, Fr. Serob Azaryan commented on the government’s attacks against the Armenian Apostolic Church, as well as the existential threats facing the Armenian people today.

According to the clergyman, Turks and Azerbaijanis have spent millions over centuries trying to destroy the Armenian Church and Islamize Armenians, but they failed. “Today this work is being carried out by Nikol Pashinyan,” he noted.

The priest said that Pashinyan is selling Armenia. “This man and the group of people standing beside him have sold out. I would like to understand what their patriotism consists of,” he said.

Fr. Serob Azaryan questioned the authorities’ attempts to pretend to be “holy,” reminding that someone who has destroyed his homeland and fights against the Church cannot speak of spiritual values. “If someone says: ‘I am holier than you,’ then first of all he is not a Christian,” he emphasized.

Speaking about the so-called “era of peace,” the clergyman urged people not to be deceived. He warned that Aliyev’s next demand will be Syunik, and the current regime will be unable to resist. “If tomorrow they say you must change the alphabet, will you change it? The next day they will say: accept Islam. In that case, it is better simply not to remain Armenians,” he said.

Fr. Serob Azaryan called for sobriety, stressing that the time has come to become true Armenians and Christians, to preserve the honor and dignity inherent to the Armenian people.
