Narek Samsonyan’s friends protest outside Human Rights Defender’s Office

Friends of blogger Narek Samsonyan, who is on hunger strike, staged a protest outside the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia. They are demanding attention to the fact that during the 11 days of Samsonyan’s hunger strike in detention, no one from the Defender’s Office has visited him.

On the 10th day of the hunger strike, Samsonyan’s condition sharply deteriorated; he was taken to the hospital and then returned to the penitentiary. At present, the blogger requires surgical intervention.

“We want to raise our voice of protest against the silence of this institution. The Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, which is supposed to protect the rights of citizens, does not react in any way to the events surrounding Narek Samsonyan.
