I am hopeful that we will soon restore strength and spirit of army – Robert Kocharyan

Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, issued a message on Armenian Army Day.

“Dear compatriots, I congratulate you on Armenian Army Day!

With pain we state that over the past eight years everything possible has been done to weaken, divide, and break our most capable and victorious army in the region. The political leadership’s obsession with shifting blame for its own mistakes onto the army has left deep consequences.

The main guarantor of genuine, long-term, and dignified peace for all states is a strong and capable army, and we cannot be an exception.

I am hopeful that we will be able to change the situation in the shortest possible time and restore the strength and spirit of the army, which will ensure stable peace.

Glory to all servicemen who wear the uniform of the Armenian Army with dignity!

Eternal glory to our soldiers who fell for the Homeland!” the message reads.
