During a survey conducted in Shirak region, residents were asked whether they believe that the authorities purchased weapons worth 8 billion. This claim had previously been made in the National Assembly by Nikol Pashinyan.
“I want to believe, but I cannot trust someone who says ‘Artsakh is Armenia,’ and the next day signs a paper recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. It is very difficult to trust such people,” one respondent said.
People expressed surprise, asking why weapons were being purchased if peace had already been established with Azerbaijan and Turkey. “What, are they going to fight against Russia and Georgia?” they asked.
Another citizen reacted sharply, “It’s a lie, I don’t believe it. Even if they bought weapons worth one billion, they put seven billion into their own pocket.”
