“I could never live alongside Azerbaijanis”: a survey in Shirak

During a survey conducted in Shirak, residents of the region were asked whether peaceful coexistence with Azerbaijanis is possible and whether they would buy the cheap Azerbaijani fuel now being sold in Armenia.

Nearly all respondents expressed bewilderment: how could Azerbaijanis ever be our friends? How can an enemy become a friend?

“Personally, I will never live alongside Azerbaijanis. Either I die, or they do,” said one survey participant.

On the topic of importing cheap fuel from Azerbaijan, another respondent was blunt: “Better to buy your own expensive fuel than someone else’s cheap one. Today it’s expensive — tomorrow it’ll come down.”
