The US–Iran ceasefire will not last long: Alexei Mukhin
Political analyst Alexei Mukhin has commented to Alpha News on the US–Iran ceasefire and the prospect of a potential ground operation.
“I am almost certain this will not last long. The United States has too many resources committed to the military conflict, too many people involved, and too much spent. They need a concrete result. The result they have offered Iran has, as I understand it, been accepted by Tehran temporarily in order to reduce the intensity of the confrontation. Nobody is interested in mutual strikes on nuclear facilities. So this is a temporary measure meant to lower the temperature of the standoff, but Iran is built for a prolonged conflict. That is already clear,” the analyst said.
In the view of Alpha News’s interlocutor, the likelihood of a US ground operation in Iran is possible only if the US legislature decides to fund it.
“If Congress allocates the money, a ground operation will be inevitable, but in the form of a raid, not an occupation. If Congress decides that this is an unnecessary expense, then nothing will happen,” Alexei Mukhin concluded.
