As part of the “Tot.Yazyk” project in Russia, representatives of national and cultural associations wrote the Total Dictation text in their native language or dialect.
Vyacheslav Belyakov, Director of the Total Dictation Foundation, said that the dictation text by Alexey Varlamov was translated into 26 national languages. Armenian, as well as the Nor-Nakhichevan dialect of Armenian, were among the languages available for translation.
“The most popular language in Russia in the ‘Tot.Yazyk’ project this year is Buryat. This is not surprising, since the capital of Total Dictation 2026 is Ulan-Ude. Armenian ranks second in popularity, followed by Avar in third place. The dictation was also translated into some endangered and dormant languages,” the foundation’s director commented.
