His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, accompanied by Bishop Natan and other senior clergy of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, offered a prayer at the Eternal Flame at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex in memory of the innocent martyrs of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. A requiem service for the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide was also held at the Eternal Flame.
“We prayed to God that the Lord grant His grace and peace to our people, so that our Armenian nation, united in love, united in solidarity, and steadfast in spirit, may endure all trials,” the Catholicos told journalists.
Garegin II did not respond to questions about the authorities’ campaign against the Church, calling on reporters not to disrupt the message of the day.
