Evgeny Osmokescu, Moldova’s economy minister, said the country will need 300,000 labor migrants in the near future.
Earlier, Osmokescu stated that these workers could come from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other Southeast Asian countries, where they could be employed in agriculture.
For several decades, the country’s working-age population has been steadily leaving. Notably, in 2025 Moldova’s population stood at 2.4 million, compared to around 4.4 million in 1991.
